GALLIPOLIS — A painting of Dr. Charles E. Holzer Jr. and his wife, Bobbie, now hangs in the Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU) lobby of Holzer Medical Center thanks to the Outpatient Satisfaction Team.

The painting was a project idea developed by the team, currently headed by Marsha Rodgers, BSN, RN, ambulatory surgery nurse manager and Mike Roe, RT (R), director of radiology, to honor the Holzer family, specifically Bobbie Holzer.

An unveiling ceremony was held Wednesday in the ASU, with Mrs. Holzer present.

The Rev. Herman Stewart, who painted the work, is currently retired and resides in Oak Hill with his wife, Katie. He was pastor at the United Methodist Church in Beaver and is originally from Hartford, W.Va. He continues to minister to those in need.

Stewart was also responsible for the painting of Dr. Holzer Jr. that hangs in the main lobby of the Holzer Center for Cancer Care.

The ASU painting is a copy of a photograph currently hanging in the French Art Colony’s piano room.

Since there was not a hard copy of the photo for Stewart to paint from, he had to travel to the FAC and take photos of the picture to ensure duplicating the photo as closely as he could. Stewart completed the painting in six weeks.
