Lady Knights net another win

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — From a losing skid to a winning streak.

After dropping its first five matches of the 2016 campaign, the Point Pleasant girls tennis team picked up its second straight victory with a 4-2 decision over visiting Logan in a non-conference matchup at The Courts in Mason County.

The Lady Knights (2-5) came up with a pair of wins in both singles and doubles play, going 2-1 overall at each level. The third singles match between Olivia Pyles and Sami Simpson wasn’t played and will be held at LHS later this spring.

Bailey Barnette claimed an 8-4 win over RaeAnne Reed in second singles and Danielle Marcum was an 8-3 winner over Cassidy Kazee in fourth doubles. McKenna Bronosky dropped an 8-2 decision to Hayley Hatfield in first singles.

Pyles and Sarah Deem claimed an 8-2 win in second doubles over Simpson and Kazee, while the Point duo of Kenlee Bonecutter and Caroline Foreman posted an 8-0 shutout over Kenna Jeffrey and Chelsea Spurlock in third doubles.

Bronosky and Barnette dropped an 8-3 decision in first doubles to the Logan duo of Hatfield and Reed.

Both of the Lady Knights’ triumphs have been in home matches.
