Although the 2015 high school football season has come to a conclusion a pair of Wahama High School senior standouts will be extending their grid careers after being selected to play in a pair of prestigious National All-Star games.

After advancing through a pair of challenging regional football combines against the nation’s top football recruits, former White Falcon lineman, Jesse Hesson, and senior linebacker, B.J. McDermitt were chosen among a field of nearly 7,000 candidates to participate in the celebrated All-Star games.

The road to these high school, year-ending events, is a very difficult task but if chosen the rewards are very advantageous in securing a college scholarship. The two former Wahama gridders progressed through a regional combine and a super combine before being selected to play in the esteemed gridiron encounter. They were judged on the 40-yard dash; shuttle drill; bench press; vertical and broad jumps as well as multiple one-on-one sessions for each position.

Hesson and McDermitt were both prominent members of the White Falcons football history and were significant components in the Bend Area team’s 2012 Class A State Championship season as well as two additional Wahama playoff berths.

Hesson began his quest by attending the Midwest Combine in Cincinnati, Ohio and was chosen to advance to the Mid-Atlantic Super Combine at the Washington Redskins training facility in Richmond Virginia.

He impressed the combine officials enough to be selected to play in the All-American Blue-Grey, North and South Bowl at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in Tampa, Florida on January 9.

The recent West Virginia Honorable Mention All-State selection and Ohio Valley Publishing top 25 pick will be playing for the North as an offensive lineman.

McDemitt’s route to his inspiring All Star football contest began following an impressive showing at the North Carolina Regional Combine in Greensboro, North Carolinian.

He also impressed the selection committee enough to be picked to attend the Mid-Atlantic Super Combine in Richmond, Virginia where his performance made a impact on the selection committee to be picked to take part in the All American Blue-Gray game at Everbank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida on January 16. McDermitt will be playing linebacker for the Blue team in that event.

All of the Wahama followers as well as Mason County and the State of West Virginia are behind these two stellar football players and wish them the most success they can have when they represent the area in such a major undertaking.
