Prevention program aims to keep students drug-free

GALLIPOLIS — One local agency is making a point to regularly visit Gallia County schools to build resilience and drug resistance skills in students.Funded by Gov. John Kasich’s “Start Talking!” initiative, Health Recovery Services, a local alcohol and drug prevention and treatment agency, is implementing a year-long series of prevention programs in both Gallia County Local Schools and Gallipolis City Schools.The classroom education sessions aim to build drug resistance skills in students, as well as resiliency; an individual’s ability to adapt to adversity and stress and respond to difficult situations and experiences in a healthy manner, said Health Recovery Services’ Community Services Manager Reggie Robinson.
