The new gymnasium floor at Gallia Academy High School is getting closer to completion every day, as lines and logos were painted onto the hardwood surface Monday and Tuesday just before the Thanksgiving holiday break. The work — which is being done by Columbus-based Traditional Hardwood Floors, LLC — is still on schedule to be completed by the first varsity home contest, a boys basketball matchup with Fairland on Friday, Dec. 4. The original floor suffered damage due to a water leak on September 16, which resulted in a complete loss of the hardwood surface. THF began demolishing the old floor on October 8 and has worked diligently ever since to meet the December 4 deadline. Pictured are views of the new paint job, which mimics the old floor — except a new ‘GA’ logo will be used at midcourt and the free throw lanes are now painted in. (Bryan Walters/photos)
