Frankie L. Burke, 89, of Gallipolis, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Arbors at Gallipolis.

He was born August 8, 1923, in Evergreen, Ohio, being the youngest of seven children born to the late Alfred and Arlena Young Burke. Frankie graduated from Bidwell-Porter High School in 1941 and married Anna Haskins Burke on February 2, 1952, and she survives him.

He was an employee of the Evans Packing House and retired from the Mathews and Edelblute Gulf Plant. He attended the First Baptist Church of Gallipolis, where he was a member of the John Stam Sunday School Class. Frankie was a 35-year member of the Centerville Masonic Lodge and the Gallia County Senior Citizens. He was an avid bowler and golfer and a proud follower of his grandsons’ sports. He dearly loved his family and friends.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, are siblings Alvin (Caribel), JC (Virginia), William and Lloyd Burke, Sadie (Jim) Irwin and Hazel Miller; father and mother-in-law, Harold “Doc” and Beulah Haskins; brother-in-law, Paul (Joan) Haskins; nieces, Carol Burke and Patty Ramsayer; and nephew, Ronnie Miller.

Frankie is survived by his wife, Anna Burke of Gallipolis; sisters-in-law, Mary Burke and Jean Martin; and brother-in-law, John (Jane) Milhoan, all of Gallipolis; nieces and nephews, Connie Bernie Day and Nancy Miller of California, Richard Burke of Virginia, Carolyn (Bob) Urlasewich of Florida, LaVonne (Jim) Repasky of Springboro, Ohio , Barbara Blevins and Mike (April) Burke of Rutland, Ohio, Richard (Terri) Haskins of Meigs County, Ohio, Chris (Pat) Dougherty of Indiana, and Kathy Nagy, Jeannie Dray, John (Janice) Burke, Vicki (Norm) Swindler and Dixie (Jeff) Golden, all of Gallipolis. Also surviving are many great-nieces and -nephews; and “grandchildren”, Jeffrey and Jared Golden, Alicia (Gavin) Logsdon, Brittany and Riley Morton.

Special family friends who helped with his care include Ruth Evans and Becky Dovenbarger, as well as the loving care of the Arbors second floor staff.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Golden, Jared Golden, Gavin Logsdon, John Burke, Greg Ervin, Bill Pegg and Bob Pegg. Honorary pallbearers will be Cliff Wilson, Stan Evans, Jerry Evans, Bill Pegg, Lawrence Tawney and Bill Tawney.
