Adkins and Warner compete at state CC meet

COLUMBUS — Peyton Adkins and McKenna Warner were the two local competitors at the state cross country meet Saturday at Scioto Downs Race Track. Adkins and Warner both competed in the Divison II Girls race.

Adkins finished in 19th, with a time of 19:42.78, missing the All Ohio team by just three spots. Warner finished the race of 148 girls in 75th place with a time of 20:49.88.

This is the second consecutive year that the sophomore duo has competed in the state meet, with Adkins finishing eight and Warner 120th in last year’s race. Warner improved her time from last year’s meet by nearly one minute.

Christina Blair of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy won the Division II Girls race with a time of 18:39.71, 10 seconds infront of second place finisher Taylor Hatfield of Zane Trace.

Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary took first place as a team with a total of 98 points.

The winners in the boys races were, Division I: Zach Willis (15:45.11) Mason; Divison II: Michael Brajdic (15:49.81) Bay Village Bay; Division III: Ryan Polman (16:01.56) Independence.

The boys teams winners were, Division I:Cleveland St. Ignatius; Division II: Peninsula Woodridge; Division III: Independence.

The winners of the girls races were, Division I: Meredith Wagner (18:03.90) Sylvania Northview; Division II: Christina Blair (18:39.71) Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy; Division III: Tammy Berger (18:47.94) Versailles.

The girls team winners were, Division I: Rocky River Magnificat; Division II: Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary; Division III: Minster.
