GALLIPOLIS — On July 30, a new Gallipolis City Park swing overlooking the Ohio River was dedicated to Lorie Neal, IOM, who served as executive director of the Gallia County Chamber of Commerce before she unexpectedly passed away last September.

The park swing was donated by the Gallipolis Retail Merchants Association.

“Lorie worked for years with the Retail Merchants Association on numerous projects and was an inspiration to many people,” said Tommie Vaughn, the association’s president. “This is a great addition to the park front for the enjoyment of the community. Lorie would approve as her spirit watches over the park.”

Two plaques will be installed on the swing: one listing the association’s board members and the other dedicating the swing to Neal. The dedication to Neal, who worked at the chamber from 2000-13, states that she was “a loyal advocate for Gallipolis and Gallia County” and that “she will be greatly missed” as a “true ambassador of the area” who “gave all and asked little.”

“It was great to work with the Gallia County Chamber of Commerce and the city of Gallipolis to have this swing installed and dedicated,” Vaughn said.
