GALLIPOLIS — The all-volunteer, community organization Gallipolis in Lights held a community workshop Saturday in the Gallipolis City Municipal Building to construct frames for Christmas lights that will be placed in the city park this holiday season.

“We are trying to get some lights back into the park. We’re a group of Christmas enthusiasts working hard to do that, and trying to get funding, and, of course, volunteers,” said Shari Rocchi, co-chair of the newly-formed organization.

Saturday’s event was the organization’s third “workshop” during which volunteers worked to form “lighted Christmas balls” that will hang in the trees in the city park.

For more information on the Gallipolis in Lights organization or to donate to their cause, individuals are encouraged to pick up fliers at the Gallipolis Municipal Building, 333 Third Avenue, or the Gallia County Visitors’ Bureau, 61 Court Street, Gallipolis.

Individuals can also directly contact co-chairs Shari Rocchi or Lance Clifford, email gallipolisinlights@yahoo.com or contact the group via their Facebook page.
