Wilmington College Agriculture Professor Monte Anderson appears to be mopping dirt Saturday in a landscaped area of campus. To avoid damaging the planted greenery and flowers from drifting weedkiller spray, Anderson used a mop head soaked in a liquid herbicide to apply it directly to unwanted plants, in this case Bermuda grass. Anderson said agriculture is the top field of choice for incoming freshmen, with more than 100 planning to take it as their major. The college is adding a full-time professor to its agriculture department, said college spokesman Randy Sarvis.
