GALLIPOLIS — The Gallia County Economic Development Office is in its beginning stages planning an aerial video marketing project with the assistance of a grant from AEP.
According to Gallia County Economic Development Director Melissa Clark, the office received a Local Economic Advancement Program grant award of $5,000 announced Tuesday to assist in the development of an aerial video of marketable industrial properties and highlights of the Gallia County community. The content will be incorporated into an already existing marketing plan to be shared with site consultants and business leaders to display a virtual tour of the community.
Clark said the video would most likely be shot with a drone flying over choice spots in Gallia County.
“We’ve been looking to do some different things,” said Clark. “I have come across (while searching ways to improve Gallia development) some different aerial photography and videography where they’re taking drones out and taking video of industrial sites as a way to market from buildings to property and the community as a whole.”
County officials have yet to decide on a contract with an aerial marketing team. Clark has been looking over estimates from potential business partners. The video project could cost at least $10,000. Clark says the video would be easily accessible to be shared online with industrial business owners seeking to setup shop in Gallia. Ideally, 15 locations would be featured in the video. Clark said she would like to get the project running this summer.
“Between the industrial park, the university, the hospital, the river and the downtown (Gallipolis), we’re going to have a lot of assets that we’re going to be able to feature,” said Clark. “We haven’t gone through what our storyboard is going to be yet or the story that we want to tell. I think it’s going to be a good project. It’s going to be easy to share. I really feel like they’re going to get a sense of what Gallia County is and what it’s about.”
Clark said early ideas of the video aim to give a sense of “industry, education, health care and the community” to video viewers.
