Gallipolis donates blood


The Ohio Valley Bank Annex building hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Raymond Keefer, 59, an Ohio Valley Bank employee, donates blood at the drive after being prepared for the preocedure by phlebotamist Jeremy Childers, of the American Red Cross in Huntington, W.Va. The American Red Cross has been urging people to donate blood in the weeks surrounding the July 4 holiday to help ensure a sufficient blood supply through the remainder of summer. Red Cross officials say blood donations often wane during the summer months. Blood drives are planned for 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at River of Life United Methodist Church, 35 Hillview Drive; and 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 7 at American Legion Post 140 in New Haven, W.Va. Red Cross officials said all blood types are needed.
