Gallia plans annual tourism expo

GALLIPOLIS — Not even Mother Nature could prevent the show from going on.

The eighth annual Southeast Ohio Tourism and Business Expo is set to begin March 5 at the University of Rio Grande’s Lyne Center. The event will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., barring a severe weather event. Last year’s expo was delayed a few weeks because of a winter storm.

The Gallia County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Gallia County Chamber of Commerce teamed up last year to turn the CVB’s Annual Tourism Expo into what is now the Southeast Ohio Tourism and Business Expo.

Expo officials say the event started eight years ago and grown each year.

This year, officials said there will be more than 12 counties in Ohio and West Virginia represented at this year’s event offering presentations, demonstrations and information about their organizations and region. In addition, there will be raffles, door prizes and plenty of giveaways for everyone.

New exhibitors participating in the expo this year will be Colony Club, Gallipolis Career College, Hocking Hills Moonshine, LuLaRoe, Abbyshire Place, Chris Rathburn, Bossard Memorial Library, Once Again Consignment, Belmont County Tourism, Carroll County CVB and Chester Shade Historical Association.

Expo officials said the event is a great opportunity for adults and students to learn more about the community and surrounding areas. By joining Tourism and Business together, it offers the best of both worlds in one place.

“We want the community to see what our organizations do and hope that you come out to show your support,” said Amanda Crouse, executive director of GCCVB.

Participating exhibitors include A Pup and A Cup Tea Company, Abbyshire Place, Belmont County Tourism, Bossard Memorial Library, Cadot Blessing Camp 126, Cambridge/Guernsey County CVB, Carroll County CVB, Chester Shade Historical Association, Chris Rathburn, Colony Club, Emancipation Celebration Committee, Gallia County Artisan Market & Studio, Gallia County Chamber of Commerce, Gallia County Conservation Club, Gallia County CVB, Gallipolis Career College, Gallipolis In Bloom, Gallipolis In Lights, Hampton Inn, Hocking Hills Moonshine, Jackson County Genealogical Society, Just Fired Ceramic Studio, Kerr School of Irish Dance, LuLa Roe, Mason County Tourism Bureau, Meigs County Tourism, Moose Hollar Noshuns, Morgan County CVB, Once Again Consignment, Origami Owl-Kelly Logan, Origami Owl/Pink Zebra-Tandy Flint, Pike County CVB, Raccoon Creek Partnership/Water Trail Association, Rio Valley Stables, Ross-Chillicothe CVB, Rio Tomato, Super 8 Motel, University of Rio Grande & Rio Grande Community College and Vinton County CVB.
