GALLIPOLIS — The Beauty Bar opened Monday on Second Avenue in Gallipolis to offer a variety of med spa services, salon treatments and nail working in an expanded new business promoted by a familiar business owner to the area.

LaTonya Kincaid serves as the proprietor of the Beauty Bar. She told the Tribune that she has 20 years of experience in the beauty and hair industry. She previously owned Strawberry Hair on Third Avenue, a business named after the color of hair her daughter who was born with, strawberry blonde. Kincaid operated Strawberry Hair for 11 years.

“We’ve been working on this whole plan for little under a year and it finally pulled together, ” Kincaid said.

According to Kincaid, Strawberry Hair just closed last Saturday as the move to the Beauty Bar became official.

“It’s kind of bittersweet because I’ve been there for so long,” Kincaid said. “But we did outgrow (the location). We offer so much more now and we just didn’t have the space to place everybody before. In this location, we offer a private med spa in the back.”

Kincaid said the facility has a registered nurse, Leigh Ann Johnson, to help administer med spa services to clients such as acne reduction treatments, acne scarring, Botox treatment, chemical peels, laser tattoo removal, photo facials and more.

The salon will also offer manicures and pedicures along with haircuts, highlighting services, styling services and more. Clients who desire may call in to reserve appointments for lash extensions and makeup sessions. Waxing services are also offered.

Kincaid said her facility offers nine rooms to allow for more customized client experiences as stylists rent space in the Beauty Bar to better serve their clients. Currently, six individuals have rooms claimed. The others remain open. The business anticipates it will be adding more stylists and a massage therapist for future endeavors.

“We’re a full-service salon. We offer all services hair-, skin- and nail-related,” Kincaid said. “Our own personal style comes out in each individual space for our clients.

“We changed our name intentionally because I didn’t want people to think we are just Strawberry Hair moving to a new location. We offer so much more than Strawberry Hair did.”

Kincaid is the mother of Megan Wise, who was recently named Miss Ohio USA in November.

Kincaid’s employee, Ginger Boyer, has worked with her for 10 years, the longest of the employees that transferred from Strawberry Hair to the Beauty Bar.
