Dogs of the Week


Greta is a Red-Tick Beagle who is two years old. She is good with dogs and children and is low energy. Shelter workers say she likes to “talk” with people and will often respond back in kind with playful barks.

Doo is a hound mix dog who is a little less than a year old. Shelter workers found him among strip mines near Crown City resting in a remote area on a bloody sleeping bag. He is good with children and other dogs. He is a mid-energy animal and reportedly walks well on a leash.

Ms. Millie is suspected of being a Corgi, Chihuahua and Jack Russell mix dog. She is less than a year old and high energy. She is good with kids and other dogs. She is friendly and shelter workers think she would make a good lap dog.

Blossom is a 2-year-old Mastiff mix. She is a high-energy animal and recently picked up by the shelter from poor conditions, leaving her near starvation. She has made a good recovery, though. She is good with people and eager to please. She is best suited in a single-animal home. She comes with a free spade and neuter voucher.

GALLIPOLIS — The Gallia County K-9 Shelter is always on the lookout to provide adoption opportunities for stray and unwanted dogs. For more information on how to begin the dog adoption process, contact the shelter at (740) 441-0207. Gallia County K-9 Shelter does not handle animal cases outside of dogs.

The shelter will be changing its Monday hours for the winter season. Hours the shelter is open to the public are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
