GREEN TOWNSHIP —An elderly Gallia County man reported missing Tuesday by his family was found Thursday in Tennessee.
Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning said Willard Sheets, 81, of Green Township, was reported missing by his family Tuesday after failing to return home from a short local trip. Sheets reportedly left his residence in Green Township at about 1:30 p.m. Oct. 4 and was supposed to travel to a farm in Harrison Township. He was expected to return at 6 p.m. Family members called the sheriff’s office when he had not returned by 10 p.m.
Sheets was discovered at a gas station Thursday in Union County, just north of Knoxville, Tennessee. After seeming disoriented, Union County deputies reportedly were contacted and ran the registration of the gray 2004 four-door Toyota Corolla he was driving. Tennessee law enforcement then made contact with the Gallia County’s Sheriff’s Office and are currently in the process of reuniting Sheets with his family.
Browning indicated that in addition to doing extensive searches of area roads, deputies had checked with area medical services.
