South Gallia BETA’s rock state convention

First- and second-place winners from the South Gallia High School BETA Club will be traveling to New Orleans this June to compete at nationals.


COLUMBUS — South Gallia High School BETA Club member, in keeping with tradition, scored big on academic tests, art projects and club activities during the Ohio BETA convention March 30-April 1 in Columbus.

Receiving first-place awards: Mariah Hineman, math test; Colton Bowers, science test; Maddie Simpson, oratory speech; Kirstin Burnette, Madison Vanderborn, Hannah Shafer, & Illyssa Saunders, Living Literature; Spotlight Your Club-SG BETA Club.

Second places were awarded to: Riley Sanders, agriculture test; Allyssa Stapleton, on-site painting; Haley Johnson, photography; Ashley Northup, Allyssa Stapleton, Jake Saunders, Micheal Montgomery, Chad Bostic, Mikayla Poling, Mariah Hineman, Joey Woodall, Tiffany Beaver and Haley Johnson, character skit, club scrapbook — SG BETA Club.

Third places were awarded to: Taylor Burnette, English test; Allie Cook, spelling test; Aaron Lyons, Spanish test; Illyssa Saunders, short story; Nickole Beaver, digital design; Courtney Shaw, recyclable art; Kirstin Burnette, ceramics; and Mikayla Poling, woodworking.

The SGHS BETA’s received third place overall in Ohio. All first- and second-place winners and club projects qualified to attend the National BETA Convention this June in New Orleans.

The SGHS BETA Club is advised by Karen Waugh and Carey Roberts.
