Bud Hunt - Publisher

About Bud Hunt:

Bud is publisher of the Gallipolis Daily Tribune, The Daily Sentinel in Pomeroy, and the Point Pleasant Register.

Hunt has an extensive background in media, holding senior management positions in several organizations. Prior to joining Civitas Media, he was vice president of revenue at Rust Communications in Cape Girardeau, Mo. During his time with Rust, he also served as regional vice president, regional publisher and editor working with newspapers in southeast Missouri and west Tennessee.

He began his newspaper career with Park Communications, serving as advertising manager, editor and general manager of newspapers in Arkansas. He has won several awards for performance and editorial excellence during his career, as did newspapers under his guidance.

Hunt has a strong history of community involvement, including past chairman of the Board of Trustees for Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center, Kennett, Mo., past president Kennett Chamber of Commerce, past board member Kennett United Way, and past chairman, Cherokee District, Greater St. Louis Area Council of Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of the inaugural Missouri Seismic Safety Commission and was active in his local church, First United Methodist Church, Kennett.

During his newspaper career, Hunt served as a president of the Southeast Missouri Press Association and was a member of Inland Press Association’s inaugural Executive Program for Innovative Change (EPIC), a year-long study looking at innovation within the newspaper industry.

Hunt moved to Gallipolis in July 2014 to take on the role of regional sales director with Civitas Media. His wife, Lee, joined him in September. They have two children, Adam Nichols and his wife, Andrea, who live in St. Charles, Mo., and Haylee and Justin Owens, who live in Cape Girardeau, Mo. They have one granddaughter, Aubrey Nichols. They are members of Grace United Methodist Church in Gallipolis.

Julia Schultz - Advertising Director

About Julia Schultz:

Julia was born in Point Pleasant, W.Va., but lived several years in Gallia County as a child. Her family eventually moved to Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va., where she graduated from Point Pleasant High School.

Upon graduation, she attended West Virginia University and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2005. After earning her degree, she moved to Texas for three years and worked in the food/sales industry. Shortly after returning to her home state of West Virginia, she began working for Civitas Media in August of 2011 as an advertising representative.

She enjoys participating in her local community and is active in the Point Pleasant Rotary, as well as volunteers for Contact Rape Crisis Center. In March 2014, she was promoted to business development manager. Her main focus is developing local businesses in Meigs, Gallia and Mason counties.

Patricia Wamsley - Customer Service Representative

About Patricia Wamsley:

Patti Wamsley joined Civitas Media in January 2015 with more than 23 years in sales and management. She started with Civitas as a customer service representative for the Point Pleasant Register and transitioned to the CSR position for the Gallipolis Daily Tribune. She also handles Ohio Valley Publishing's human resource issues.
Originally from Lawrence County, Patti moved to Gallia County to finish high school. That's where she met and married her husband. They have two grown children and two grandchildren with whom she enjoys spending extra time.

Wilma Gooch - Advertising Representative

About Wilma Gooch:

Wilma is originally from Pike County, Ky. While in middle school, her family relocated to South Shore, Ky., across the river from Portsmouth. She grew up along the Ohio River, where her passion for fishing first began.

She has been married to her best friend, Tom, for more than 15 years. She has one son, Jeremy, and one daughter, Elisha. She also has two grandchildren, a Great Dane named Samson and four cats.

She attended Gallipolis Career College and the University of Rio Grande. Before joining the team at Civitas Media, she was employed by Holzer Medical Center for 17 years as secretary/care coordinator for the departments of dermatology and plastics/cosmetic surgery.

Michael Johnson - Editor

About Michael Johnson:

A 29-year veteran of journalism, Michael has personally won 31 journalism awards for his writing and photography throughout his career.

He took over as editor of Ohio Valley Publishing -- Gallipolis Daily Tribune, Point Pleasant Register and The Daily Sentinel -- in Pomeroy in February 2014.

Prior to being named editor of Ohio Valley Publishing, Michael was managing editor of the Alamogordo (N.M.) Daily News, where he guided his staff to 49 New Mexico Press Association awards in a five-year period and helped build it into a General Excellence award-winner in 2013-14. Michael has also held editorial management positions at newspapers in Cody, Wyo., Chillicothe, Lorain and Sandusky in Ohio, and South Haven and Kalamazoo in his home state of Michigan.

Michael, a native of Bangor, Mich., earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M. He is currently working on his master's degree in journalism and mass communications at Kent State University.

Michael is a member of numerous organizations, including Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Michael is also a past member of Rotary International and is a prospective member of Kiwanis Club. In November 2015, he joined the Cadot-Blessing Camp 126 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. He has served as a volunteer youth sports coach (soccer, basketball and baseball) and regularly attends his children's high school and club sports events.

In his spare time, Michael enjoys photography, fishing, any outdoor activity and spending time with family.

Dean Wright - News Reporter

About Dean Wright:

Dean Wright grew up near Indian Lake in Logan County of western Ohio. An Ohio University graduate, he spent several years in Athens becoming familiar with Ohio's Appalachian region.

Before starting with Ohio Valley Publishing, he spent several years as a hardscaper, freelance editor, tutor and writer. Now he spends his days beating the next deadline, saving the world one video game at a time and keeping his dog out of the trash.

Bryan Walters - Sports Editor

About Bryan Walters:

Bryan has been a sports writer since the 2000-01 school year, which included a three-year stint at the Jackson Times-Journal before joining the Ohio Valley Publishing staff in the fall of 2004.

He was named sports editor in April 2015.

A 1995 honors graduate of Jackson High School, Bryan has won several state awards for his journalistic efforts and also serves as a member of the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.

Paul Boggs - Sports Writer

About Paul Boggs:

Paul Boggs is a member of the Ohio Valley Publishing sports department, having joined in January 2016.

He has several years of sports journalism experience, following his graduation from Wellston High School in 1995 and Ohio University in 1999.

He was sports editor of The Jackson County Times-Journal in Jackson, Ohio,  from December 2004 to January 2016.

Previously, he was sports editor of The Athens Messenger in Athens, Ohio, from April 2001 thru December 2004. He was a sports writer with the Parkersburg  News and Sentinel in Parkersburg, W.Va., from January 2000 to March 2001.
He has spent several years covering both the Tri-Valley Conference and Southeastern Ohio Athletic League.
Paul is resident of Wellston and enjoys playing golf and harness horse racing in his spare time.
