Lady Knights fall to Wayne, 48-40

POINT PLEASANT — The Point Pleasant Lady Knights (6-11) fell to the Wayne Lady Pioneers by a score of 48-40 on Monday evening.

The Lady Knights and Wayne traded points in the first quarter, and Point Pleasant took an 11-10 lead at the end of the first. Wayne, with a good defensive effort, held the Lady Knights to only seven points in the second quarter. Wayne scored 13 in the quarter, to take a 23-18 lead at the half.

Wayne continued to increase the lead, as they out scored Point Pleasant 17-10 in the third quarter. Wayne led 40-28 at the start of the fourth quarter. The Lady Knights rallied in the fourth, as they cut the Wayne lead, but could only get to within eight. Wayne won by a final score of 48-40.

The Lady Knights were led by Kohl Slone with 12 points. Andrea Porter scored nine points, Katie Bruner added eight points, Ashley Templeton had six points, and Amanda Roush scored five points.

Wayne was led by Sam Queen with 13 points. Kristen Stiltner had 11 points, Paige Childers scored 10 points, Erica Kitchen added five points, Paige Kelley had four points, Ashley Willis scored three points, and Tosha Maynard added two points.

The Lady Knights return to the court on Thursday as they travel to Buffalo.
