Merrill Freddie Cox, 71, Gallipolis, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010, at his residence.

He was born July 23, 1938, in Gallia County, Ohio, son of the late Floyd D. and Claris Ann Halley Cox. He married Linda Lou Thompson Cox and she preceded him in death on December 24, 1998. He was a former cab driver and he enjoyed his family.

Surviving are his two daughters, Michelle Renee Cox of Gallipolis and Kimberly Dawn (Kevin) Cox Prisque of Zanesville; three sons, Christopher Michael Cox and Shawn Matthew Cox, both of Gallipolis, Codie Lee Glenn of Jackson; five grandchildren, Michael Lee Cox, Christopher Kenneth Cox, Aryan Matthew Cox, Devan James Prisque, Alexis Raelynne Prisque; and a granddaughter expected in March – Peyton Dawn Prisque; two step grandchildren, Daulton Gary Prisque and Dylan Robert Prisque; five brothers, Hayward Lee (Ann) Cox and Floyd (Janice) Cox, both of Sandusky, Allen Cox, Warner (Marlinda) Cox and Charles (Margie) Cox, all of Gallipolis; four sisters, Grace Reel of Sandusky, Evelyn (Don) Wright, Alice Bing, Louella Hazelbaker, all of Gallipolis.

In addition to his parents and wife, Linda Lou Cox, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Pauline Cox.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2010, at Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Mina Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2010, at the funeral home.
