GALLIPOLIS — As if to backup the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ claim that poachers are often involved in criminal activity, two Vinton residents are facing several drug related charges stemming from the ODNR search warrants executed last weekend.

According to the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office investigators, marijuana and unmarked prescription pills were found during the warrant search and the two suspects could face multiple charges of trafficking, possession and paraphernalia.

In addition, three suspects from Detroit, Mich., face drug related charges stemming from a traffic stop on U.S. 35 in which more than $12,000 was seized. The suspects were detained and later released. Officials are currently consulting with prosecutors on charges.

Sheriff’s investigators also reported three Huntington Township residents may be facing child endangerment charges stemming from a Child Protective Services tip of over excessive punishment of the children.
