Ellabelle Chevalier McDonald, 95, Gallipolis, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Holzer Medical Center.

She was born September 18, 1914, in Gallipolis, daughter of the late Finley and Emma Mae Chick Chevalier. Ellabelle married Bruce McDonald on November 13, 1943, in Chillicothe and he preceded her in death on November 13, 1992.

Ellabelle was a saleslady at Murphys. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a Pythian Sister of Temple 76, Gallipolis, a former chairperson of the American Red Cross, a 50 plus year volunteer of the Gray Ladies, a member of the Volunteer Service League at Holzer Medical Center, a member of the Chaplains Committee and worked closely with Holzer Hospice.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Michael and Dixie McDonald of Gallipolis; one grandson, Bruce William McDonald of Gallipolis; one granddaughter, Stacey Rayburn of Point Pleasant, W.Va.; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Christian; one nephew, Jack (Sharon) Dabney of Virginia.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bruce McDonald, she was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Frances Dabney; and two brothers, Lawrence Chevalier and Cecil Chevalier.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, February 7, 2010, at Willis Funeral Home with Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Billy McDonald, Bob Burlile, Jacob Errett, Ray Lieving, Jack Payton and Charlie Williams.
