GALLIPOLIS — A Gallia County woman arrested after chemicals commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine were discovered at her home recently appeared before Common Pleas Judge D. Dean Evans.

Ravyn N. Barr, 26, Gallipolis, pleaded not guilty to the illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs during an arraignment hearing last Thursday.

Barr was arrested at approximately 11 p.m. on November 28 after officers arrived at her residence to serve a bench warrant on Trentin N. Caldwell, 21, Gallipolis, for failing to appear on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

According to the original complaint filed with the Gallipolis Municipal Court, while at the residence located at 29 1/2 Neil Avenue, officers with the Gallipolis Police Department reportedly observed hypodermic needles and drug paraphernalia lying on the living room table. Officers then obtained permission from Barr to search the house and subsequently located a book bag in the closet that contained items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine, including drain clog remover, lithium batteries, Sudafed packs, starting fluid, a box of cold packs and coffee filters.

Following the discovery, a team of officers with the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office and Middleport Police Department, along with members of the Gallipolis Fire Department, responded to the scene to aid in the cleanup of the possible lab.

Subsequent to her arrest, Barr man an initial appearance in the municipal court on November 29 and this case was later bound over to the Common Pleas Court of Gallia County.

An indictment in this case was filed on December 12 and, during last week’s hearing, a $20,000 own recognizance bond was set with an additional $1,500, 10 percent bond.

Barr was further advised to have no violations of the law and no contact with her co-defendant Caldwell.

A plea agreement may be filed in this case by March 11. A jury trial has been scheduled for April 8.

Similarly, Caldwell was arraigned on December 18 and pleaded not guilty to the illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs.

Caldwell was subsequently released on his own recognizance. A jury trial has been scheduled in this case for April 20 and a plea agreement may be filed by March 29.
