GALLIPOLIS — The mystery of growing and cooking with herbs was unveiled as Sara Spurlock presented a program on “Growing and Cooking with Herbs” to the Gallipolis Garden Club at their July meeting.
Mrs. Spurlock spoke about all types of herbs from A to Z. She took a unique approach to the topic by presenting different crackers and dips made with a variety of herbs. Each member was asked to taste the crackers and dips and vote on their favorites.
Type of soil for growing, light needed, herbs that are annuals and herbs that are perennials were discussed. Growing of herbs in containers and gardens as well as recipes are now much more understood by those present.
The next meeting is Aug. 14 with Shirley Smith presenting the program on hostas.
