GALLIPOLIS — This weekend, Bossard Memorial Library will be hosting a special baseball-themed story time and is encouraging the community to come out for this unique event in honor of National Library Card Sign-up Month.

Bossard’s Youth Services Coordinator Rachael Barker is leading the team of library staff members who are diligently preparing for Saturday’s event that begins at 2 p.m. at the library on Spruce Street in Gallipolis.

“I encourage our community to come to the library this Saturday for two of America’s greatest pastimes — baseball and reading. It will be a great way to have fun spending time with your family and friends,” Barker said. “Be sure to grab your glove and wear your favorite baseball gear.”

In addition to baseball-themed stories, crafts to complete and take home, treats and numerous games, attendees will also be able to meet and play catch with players from the University of Rio Grande’s Redstorm baseball team during the “Swing into Reading” baseball story time.

“I am very grateful for the Rio Grande Redstorm baseball team taking their time to help with this program,” Barker said.

This month, libraries across the country are celebrating National Library Card Sign-up month and Bossard Library is no different. Parents, especially, are encouraged to bring their child to the library to sign up for a library card.
